The 3 Best Fall Activities in Charlotte, NC

Visit SCarowinds for a Spook

Are you and your friends bored of the standard roller coaster rides that dip steeply once they’re high up from the ground and push you forward at 80 mph? If you’re seeking another activity to get your heart racing and induce an adrenaline rush, you should certainly check out SCarowinds. It takes place once a year in Fall and is a transformation of the Carowinds, including horror shows, night rides, and seven mazes.

But wait, it gets better. Scarowinds has something called ‘Scare Zones,’ which are sections where people jump out and try to scare the visitors, resulting in them screaming in public. There's a chainsaw guy, clowns, and the Army of Darkness. It’s more fun than it sounds, so don’t rule it out before you try it.

Jam Out to Music at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

Of course, you can stroll through the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden and appreciate the red and golden fall colors anytime you want since it’s just west of Charlotte. However, we recommend visiting on October 15th or 16th because this is when the garden hosts the Lost Hollow Music Festival.

This family-friendly festival is two days long, featuring a cornhole tournament, drinks, food trucks, and performances from famous musicians, such as Jim Avvet, Forlorn Strangers, Stepside Deluxe, and more. If you wish to attend for only one day, the ticket will cost you $12.95, while the two-day ones are $20.

South End Wine Fest

This one’s for all the wine lovers. South End has been branching out of its strict craft beer territory and embracing the wonders of wino- it’s a serious love affair! Get ready for Charlotte’s second-annual wine festival on October 15th, located at the corner of Carson and Mint Streets. There are a variety of pinots to sip on and get, while popular food trucks like The Tin Kitchen and Papi Queso are available for delicious food to munch on afterward. Jam out to live music by purchasing the $35 ticket and get in as many tastings as you please from vineyards all over the world. You must take your safety into account by assigning someone to be the designated driver.
