The weather in Houston is almost always far too hot to enjoy the outdoors. Not in October though! This is the season to start making memories in Houston, Texas; the city of the Houston Rockets and the home of Tex-Mex! Whether attending Fall festivals, savoring seasonal flavors, visiting world-class museums, or going apple and pumpkin picking, Houston has a lot in store for you so buckle up your seat belts and come along for a few fun-filled months.

The 4 Best Fall Activities in Houston

Kemah’s Boo on the Boardwalk

Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the locals gather around in Kemah for some spooky and not-so-spooky events. Families attend from all over the state to enjoy live music, artisanal food, arts and crafts, which is just to name a few opportunities. It’s the perfect place to have some fun with Halloween right around the corner.

Parents can enjoy themselves at the Boardwalk and take their sweet time visiting retail stores while the kids are busy trick or treating. Not to mention the beautifully choreographed dance routines portraying the cultural diversity in Houston and uniting its people.

Chefs for Farmers Food and Wine Festival

In 2010, Chefs For Farmers began as a modest farm-to-table dinner series in Dallas, but it has expanded over the past ten years to become one of the state's most popular annual food and wine events. It promises a stellar lineup of Houston's leading chefs and culinary figures for its maiden visit to the city.

In an attempt to assist Texan small farms, they work together to offer up specially selected, locally produced cuisine for the inclusive tasting event. The party is an all-encompassing gourmet adventure that combines music, art, and culture for the ultimate celebration.

The 50th Annual Bayou City Art Festival

On the 8th and 9th of October,, the Bayou City Art Festival will return to Downtown Houston. By bringing a wide range of artists and works to Houston, this festival, now in its 50th year, has grown to become one of the best art festivals in the nation. Customers will have the chance to interact with artists, see original works, and buy artwork from 19 different art forms, including top-notch sculptures, paintings, prints, jewelry, and more.

Along with two entertainment stages, art exhibits, and live music, the event also has a food truck park and beverage outlets. Additionally, there are numerous chances to enjoy delicious food and drinks.

Southern Smoke Festival

The Southern Smoke Festival 2022 will take place from October 21–23 and will be hosted by Chris Shepherd, an award-winning James Beard chef, and the Southern Smoke Foundation. It features around 60 of the best culinary stars and chefs, including Brooke Williamson, Cheetie Kumar, Tom Colicchio, Erick Williams, and Sarah Grueneberg, as well as different Houston chefs.

The weekend's activities will take place all across Houston, in neighborhoods including EaDO, Hermann Park, and Post Oak.
