One of Our Favorite Proxi Creators, Livability, Just Released Their 2025 100 Best Places to Live Map! We love seeing what our creative, data-driven users build with Proxi — and one of the standouts every year is Livability and their highly anticipated Top 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S. list and interactive map!

If you haven’t heard of Livability yet, they’re the experts on what makes small and mid-sized cities amazing places to call home. Every year, they release a carefully curated list of the 100 most livable cities in the country — and they’ve just launched their 2025 edition!

What Makes This List Different?

While there are plenty of "best cities" lists floating around, Livability does it differently. Here’s why their list stands out:

It focuses on small to mid-sized cities (populations between 75,000 and 500,000) — places where you can still find community, connection, and opportunity without the big-city overwhelm.
Affordability is non-negotiable — only cities with a median home value under $500,000 make the cut.
It’s not a ranking from 1 to 100. Instead, Livability created an interactive, customizable experience where you can filter and sort by what matters most to you — like affordability, safety, amenities, health, and more.

Powered by Data (and a Really Smart Map)

Livability’s list is built on some serious research. They partnered with Applied Geographic Solutions (AGS) to analyze nearly 100 data points across eight key categories:

Economy
Housing & Cost of Living
Amenities
Transportation
Environment
Safety
Education
Health

Each city receives a Livability Score (LivScore) based on this data, then the top 100 scoring cities are featured on the list.
